Carlin de Jonge, B.A., B.Ed., M.Ed.
Literacy Assessment and Intervention Specialist, Founder
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
​
Carlin has been in the field of education for over 15 years and has an extensive skillset in the field of Special Education. After teaching in the general classroom setting, she continued to support children and youth in the roles of Special Education teacher, Guidance Counsellor, and Student Services Coordinator where she worked collaboratively with parents and other professionals (i.e., teachers, teaching assistants, psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and occupational therapists) in addressing students' specific learning needs.
Carlin is experienced in working with English language learners, children with learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, and children with behaviour and emotional challenges. As well, Carlin is skilled in Individual Program Plan (IPP) development and implementation.
Carlin holds a Master’s of Education degree in Special Education with a focus in the assessment and intervention of language and literacy based learning disabilities. In addition, she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and advanced training and certification in psychological assessment: Level B Psychological Assessment (Achievement-Academic Testing).

Carlin takes the time to connect with every child that she works with and has a calm and friendly approach that puts her students at ease. She is passionate about the science of reading and writing and helping students discover their confidence and their full potential to learn.​​​

Liza Mintz, M.Ed.
Literacy Intervention Specialist

Liza Mintz is a dedicated Literacy Tutor with a Master’s degree in Education, specializing in Inclusive Education and Neuroscience. With over seven years of experience, she has supported students with a wide range of learning abilities, including dyslexia, ADHD, and communication disorders.
Liza believes deeply in the power of one-on-one and small group instruction and the trusting relationships that grow from individualized learning. She is passionate about using structured literacy approaches grounded in the Science of Reading, and she tailors her teaching to meet each student exactly where they are.
Her background includes intensive work with non-verbal students who used typing as their primary mode of communication while navigating complex medical and neurological challenges. Through this work, Liza collaborated closely with teachers and therapists, coordinated Individualized Program Plans (IPPs), supported funding documentation, and adapted curriculum across subject areas. At the heart of her practice is a belief in assuming competence, nurturing self-esteem, and ensuring every student feels seen, heard, and included.
Liza’s graduate research focused on language development and communication autonomy, shaping her thoughtful, research-informed approach to teaching. She brings both expertise and genuine care to her work, and she is committed to helping every learner build confidence, independence, and a love of learning.


Jennifer Kuehner, B.Ed.
Literacy Intervention Specialist

Jennifer brings over 23 years of teaching experience and extensive tutoring expertise to her work with students. She is a teacher with the Calgary Board of Education and has taught students from Kindergarten through Grade 9 in a variety of settings, including early years classrooms, junior high, and special education. Jennifer is also certified through the North American Montessori Center and has a strong background in supporting learners with diverse needs, including autism and ADHD, both in the classroom and through long term individual tutoring.

Jennifer incorporates information from psycho-educational assessments to design personalized learning strategies that address each child’s unique strengths and challenges. She has completed additional training in structured literacy and aligns her instruction with the science of reading, using evidence based approaches to support reading and spelling development. Her calm, compassionate approach fosters confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.

Drawing on her broad teaching experience and strong understanding of child development and early literacy, Jennifer creates engaging, responsive learning environments where every child feels seen, heard, and capable. She is deeply committed to helping students discover their potential academically, socially, and personally, while nurturing the curiosity and confidence that support lifelong learning.​​
Patti Dahm, B.Ed.
Literacy and Intervention Specialist

TEACHING EXPERIENCE​​
​
Patti is a retired classroom teacher of 33 years. She spent the bulk of her career teaching at the kindergarten to grade four level. Patti is a literacy specialist, having supervised and mentored teachers in her school division through both the Early Literacy Intervention Program and grade level teacher collaborative groups. Patti has always had a passion for addressing the learning gaps that occur in the regular classroom setting. She has a comprehensive understanding of the limits of the classroom setting and has seen first-hand that not all students are able to have their needs met with traditional literacy programming. Patti is excited to utilize her knowledge and extensive training as a multi-sensory structured language practitioner. The Orton Gillingham Approach is known to meet the needs of all learners, helping to close the learning gap that many students experience. With years of experience and specialized training, Patti is dedicated to finding that magical key which will open literacy skills for every child.

Patti’s belief in student connection and fostering trusting relationships has always been the cornerstone of her teaching philosophy. She believes that students need to feel heard, safe and comfortable before learning can occur, and that learning needs to involve an element of fun. That’s when the magic begins!

Jennifer Kephart, B.A., B.Ed. (in progress)
Literacy Tutor
Jennifer Kephart is a reading tutor who is passionate about inspiring children to love reading. Currently an education student at the University of Calgary, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in English. Jennifer has experience working with students of all abilities, always bringing a warm and welcoming approach to each session. She focuses on helping children feel confident in their reading skills through intentional, systematic instruction and an encouraging atmosphere. With a strength for building positive relationships, Jennifer believes learning to read can be a fun and rewarding experience, and is dedicated to making that happen for every child she works with.
